Day 8, Supplement

Here are the videos we mentioned in our previous post. First, a panorama video of the Polychrome Overlook, which shows just a small bit of the spectacular views we were treated to all day:

Next, a video of a bear running:

Then, a video of the confrontation between that same bear and a caribou. I'm sorry I didn't get both animals' reactions when they finally saw each other, but I was too busy watching with my eyes to zoom out. Just imagine the running from the previous video at the caribou, and you can understand why the caribou turned tail and ran the opposite direction.

And for your amusement, here is a video Shannon took during our hike at the end of the day that illustrates our bear-deterrent system. We feel that it was very effective and probably scared away any wildlife within 20 miles of us. Please ignore the video since it is sideways and basically only shows Shaun's butt. This is because Shannon took it surreptitiously. Neener neener neener. Enjoy.
